He currently serves as the Executive Director of the African Confederation of Cooperative Savings and Credit Associations (ACCOSCA); the continental association promoting financial inclusion in Africa and advocating for all financial cooperatives at the global level. He has been instrumental in strengthening regional, interregional, and intercontinental collaboration in the cooperative sector. His contribution to revitalizing cooperative financial institutions and establishing strategies that foster sustainable and inclusive development is recognized on the continent, as evidenced by the leadership he's provided in the growth of ACCOSCA and the re-establishment of credit union networks in various countries in Africa.
He currently serves as the Project Director of the African Development Educators (ADE) Program; a lifelong experiential meticulous training that strives to instill cooperative principles and philosophy among cooperators while exploring ways in which the cooperative business model can be used to solve international development issues. ADE is part of the global development educator (DE) programs for credit unions. He also provides leadership in convening the Africa Regulators Round Table (RRT); a network of credit union regulators whose objective is to support and promote financial soundness of credit unions on the continent.
He sits on several boards as well, serving as: Treasurer of the Cadasta Foundation - based in Washington, D.C.; Chair of the Management Committee of Proxfin Network which is established by The Desjardins International Development (DID) as a platform for dialogue with the financial inclusion space; and as a member of the Africa Co-operative Development Foundation (ACDF).
He was inducted into the African American Credit Union Hall of Fame in 2022 and is a recipient of the Kenyan Head of State Commendation in year 2023. He is part of eminent cooperative leaders appointed by the Government of Kenya to constitute a high-level technical team mandated with conceptualizing and developing the Kenya Transformational Cooperative Strategy. In April 2024, he joined the World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU) Board of Directors representing African credit unions.
He is a development economist with a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) from Daystar University (Kenya), a Master of Arts in Economics of Development from Erasmus University in Rotterdam (Netherlands), and a Master of Science in Management from Strathclyde Business School (United Kingdom). He is also an Alumnus of Harvard Business School with a Certificate in Strategic Leadership. Before joining development work, he worked in the banking sector in Europe and Africa.
